Rare Air is an elite women's Ultimate team in Boulder, CO. We got our start in 1986 when a group of athletic, fun-loving, Rocky Mountain women formed a team of friends called the Babylon Sisters. In 1991 the team received a clothing sponsorship and became DV8. This was the first year that the team qualified for Nationals, held in sunny Florida . Since then the team has regularly appeared at Nationals. The team name changed again in 1993 to Rare Air. This name represented the Rare qualities of the individuals on the team, their shared goal to leap for the stars, and their intense training in an oxygen deprived environment. The name was also taken from the title of a book on an amazing athlete, Michael Jordan, which provided an endless supply of inspirational quotes, “When I step onto the court, I’m ready to play...” |
